  1. It appears that depending on the construct test, that the online method can be more beneficial or not. How can companies assure that applicants are interpreting their results correctly though?

  2. What are some effective ways we could assure that the person who is taking the exam is actually taking it? With Skype and other video programs could we use picture identification during the test perhaps?

  3. How would organizations go about comparing the benefits and downfalls of online testing? Do you think they are aware of all of the issues? It seems like the battle is between cost/ease of use vs. actually measuring the construct you think you are testing. Have any legal cases dealt with the use of online measures?

  4. I agree Shane, it seems like with all of the technology we have now we should be better able to determine if it is actually the applicant taking the test. However, don't you think that if someone really wants to have someone else take the test for them, they will find a way to do it?

  5. Good questions. These articles have made me realize the issues are much more complex than I realized. The internet has profoundly affected testing. Whether it is good or bad requires lots of individual judgement in various circumstances.

  6. As fast as the internet is expanding into every aspect of our personal and work lives, does it seem like we are a bit behind in research on the psychometric issues and fairness issues involved in using computer-based and internet-based selection tools?

  7. How much do you think some of the negative issues with computer based testing procedures are attributed to lack of experience and self-efficacy (confidence in using computers) on the side of the test taker?
